Job Description
A well‑established machine job shop is seeking a Milling/Turning Machine Operator to set up, run, and inspect parts in a fast‑paced, high‑volume manufacturing environment. This role focuses heavily on machine operation, steel material handling, and precision measurement while supporting both small custom jobs and large production runs.
Key Responsibilities- Operate milling and turning machines to produce parts for industrial applications.
- Load and unload steel materials safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
- Run machines for most of the day, producing up to 400+ metal parts per shift.
- Perform inspections using a tape measure and basic measuring tools to verify part accuracy.
- Interpret machining drawings to understand dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
- Perform set‑ups and changeovers, adjusting machine settings as needed.
- Use tools to support operation, adjustments, and basic maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation in a job‑shop environment.
- Collaborate with team members and follow all safety procedures.
- 2+ years operating machines in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
- Hands‑on experience with milling and/or turning machines.
- Ability to use a tape measure accurately for inspections.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine changeovers.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Forklift experience in a production or warehouse setting.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minooka, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $26.00/hr.
