Job Title: CNC Machine Operator - 1st Shift
Job Description
This role requires more than just operating a machine. The individual will be responsible for setting up their machine, performing tool changes and tear downs, and reading micrometers and calipers. They will also need to read blueprints/drawings to create parts and inspect them to ensure there are no flaws. The role includes minor maintenance on the machine, with training provided if necessary.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machines, including mills and lathes.
- Perform tool changes and tear downs on CNC machines.
- Read and interpret micrometers and calipers.
- Read blueprints and drawings to create parts.
- Inspect parts for flaws and ensure quality standards.
- Conduct minor maintenance on machines with training provided.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience in setting up machines, including mills or lathes.
- At least 1 year of experience performing tool changes on mills or lathes.
- At least 1 year of CNC operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read measuring instruments, specifically micrometers and calipers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Experience in machine maintenance.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing.

Work Environment
The work environment consists of a bright and clean facility with a long line of machines. The company operates primarily in machining and assembly, and is a decent size with approximately 80 employees. The 2nd plant includes a large warehouse with small assembly stations. While not climate controlled, the atmosphere is not overly hot and has a distinct oil and metal smell. The 1st shift operates Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and training for the 2nd shift occurs during these hours.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Haven, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
