This role involves assembling products using hand and power tools, following detailed instructions, diagrams, and blueprints to ensure high-quality output. You will operate tools, equipment, and processes with increasing independence, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient production environment. The position offers hands-on work, opportunities to broaden your skills, and the potential to grow into higher-level roles within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Operate tools, equipment, and production processes in accordance with provided instructions, and leverage prior experience to work with limited or no instructions when appropriate.
- Assist in creating or improving work instructions when existing documentation is incomplete or unavailable.
- Follow standard work procedures, including quality policies and customer specifications, to ensure products meet required standards.
- Monitor your own work for accuracy and quality, and communicate effectively with supervisors, escalating issues or concerns when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of time worked, labor tracking, inventory control, process documentation, scrap, and quality data.
- Support and actively participate in improvement initiatives focused on safety, cleanliness, product quality, and operational efficiency.
- Generate and share new and innovative ideas to solve complex problems and enhance processes.
- Stay current on all required certifications and training for the role, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
- Consistently complete assignments on time without compromising quality, and manage workload and tasks effectively.
- Train other team members on tasks and processes when assigned, contributing to a cross-functional and knowledgeable team.
- Adapt to changing priorities, tasks, and processes, and remain comfortable completing different types of work on a frequent basis.
- Apply sound judgment and demonstrate initiative in daily activities, identifying opportunities to improve work methods and outcomes.
- At least 2+ years of assembly experience in a manufacturing or similar hands-on environment.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly diagrams and blueprints.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use computers for data entry, documentation, and reference materials.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and high-quality output.
- Ability to adapt to change and remain comfortable performing different tasks on a frequent basis.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to interact with supervisors and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to execute sound judgment and show initiative in daily tasks.
- Commitment to maintaining quality standards and following established procedures.
- Experience reading and working from schematics in addition to blueprints and diagrams.
- Familiarity with maintaining process documentation, inventory records, and quality records.
- Experience participating in or supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, cleanliness, quality, or efficiency.
- Comfort training others on tasks and processes when needed.
- Willingness to keep certifications and training up to date as requirements evolve.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.25/hr.
