Job Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for maintaining the movement of incoming and outgoing products throughout the facility. This role ensures accurate handling, storage, and distribution of materials while adhering to safety, quality, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all workplace safety and product quality policies and guidelines
- Read production schedules, customer orders, and requisitions to determine items to be moved or distributed
- Transport materials from receiving or production areas to storage or designated locations
- Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or bins according to size, type, style, color, or product code
- Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials and distribute items to production areas
- Assemble customer orders from stock and place them on pallets
- Mark materials with identifying information and open bales, crates, or containers
- Record amounts of materials received or distributed and ensure accuracy through weighing or counting
- Use computer systems to enter and maintain records
- Operate material handling equipment to transport stored items
- Load and unload trailers with palletized and non-palletized products
- Utilize manual and automated material handling equipment
- Maintain safe housekeeping practices and adhere to hygiene guidelines
- Contribute to division performance by meeting internal and external customer needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5–10 years of relevant work experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
- Ability to read and use warehouse computer software
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and workflows
- Proficiency in basic computer use for recordkeeping
- Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, hear, and see on a constant basis
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to climb and descend stairs
- Exposure to varying temperatures (0–120 degrees), dust, dirt, and noise requiring hearing protection
- Work surfaces may include concrete
- Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone
- Occasional travel to other locations, meetings, or seminars may be required
