Material Handler

• Follow all workplace safety and product quality policies and guidelines
• Read production schedules, customer orders, and requisitions to determine items to be moved or distributed
• Transport materials from receiving or production areas to storage or designated locations
• Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or bins according to size, type, style, color, or product code
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials and distribute items to production areas
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place them on pallets
• Mark materials with identifying information and open bales, crates, or containers
• Record amounts of materials received or distributed and ensure accuracy through weighing or counting
• Use computer systems to enter and maintain records
• Operate material handling equipment to transport stored items
• Load and unload trailers with palletized and non-palletized products
• Utilize manual and automated material handling equipment
• Maintain safe housekeeping practices and adhere to hygiene guidelines
• Contribute to division performance by meeting internal and external customer needs
• Perform other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5–10 years of relevant work experience
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
• Ability to read and use warehouse computer software
• 
  

• Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, hear, and see on a constant basis
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling
• Ability to climb and descend stairs
• Exposure to varying temperatures (0–120 degrees), dust, dirt, and noise requiring hearing protection
• Work surfaces may include concrete
• Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone
• Occasional travel to other locations, meetings, or seminars may be required
