Job Description
Seeking a skilled CNC machinist to add to our 3rd shift team. This individual will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision metal components used in manufacturing. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work with tight tolerances, and knowledge of machining processes to ensure high-quality production.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines including mills, lathes, grinders, and multi-axis machinery.
- Perform up to eight or nine tool changes per shift across your assigned machines, ensuring each change is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Load parts and materials into CNC machines, pull the correct programs, and make minor program edits as needed to maintain quality and productivity.
- Run production parts in a high-volume environment, maintaining consistent output while meeting strict tolerances of approximately +/- 10–20 microns.
- Work with various types and thicknesses of steel, ensuring proper handling and setup for each job.
- Perform regular in-process quality checks using micrometers and calipers, typically every 300–400 parts, to verify dimensions and maintain precision.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of CNC machining experience within a high-production manufacturing environment.
- Experience with mills, lathes, grinders, or multi-axis machinery.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints to determine tolerances, requirements, and dimensions.
- Ability to perform tool changes, set ups, and tear downs.
- Ability to perform and document quality checks using micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to understand and work to tight tolerances, approximately +/- 10–20 microns.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for addressing basic machine, tooling, or process issues.
- Previous experience with programming or program editing is a plus.

Work Environment
The work environment is a high-volume, high-precision machining facility with approximately 350 different CNC machines, including screw machines, ID grinders, centerless grinders, CNC mills, and CNC lathes. The shop is fairly loud due to production activity but remains clean and air conditioned, providing a comfortable setting even during long 3rd shift hours of 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $52000.00/yr.
