Job Description
We are looking for a Sr. Accountant to join a nonprofit-focused team in Massachusetts on a contract-to-permanent basis. This role supports financial statement audit engagements by applying strong fund accounting knowledge, maintaining accurate records, and partnering with internal and client stakeholders to keep reporting on track. Candidates with solid nonprofit accounting experience are encouraged to apply, even if they are building their audit exposure and are eager to grow in that area. A hybrid work arrangement is available for this opportunity.

Responsibilities:
• Support nonprofit audit engagements by preparing schedules, organizing financial data, and responding to audit-related requests in a timely manner.
• Manage month-end activities, including posting journal entries, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure an accurate and efficient close process.
• Maintain the general ledger with careful attention to fund-based accounting requirements and proper financial classification.
• Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to strengthen the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
• Complete bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items by coordinating with appropriate internal or external contacts.
• Assist in preparing documentation and analyses that support annual audits, compliance reporting, and nonprofit financial reviews.
• Collaborate with team members and clients to clarify accounting issues, improve documentation, and support ongoing financial operations.• Strong experience in nonprofit accounting, including hands-on exposure to fund accounting principles and reporting.
• Proficiency with month-end close procedures, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.
• Demonstrated ability to perform detailed account reconciliations and bank reconciliations accurately.
• Solid understanding of core accounting practices and financial statement support processes.
• Willingness to learn audit-related work and contribute to nonprofit audit engagements.
• Strong analytical skills, organizational ability, and attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with team members and stakeholders in a hybrid setting.
