What You Will Be Doing
- Handle PIP files from inception to conclusion, including pleadings, depositions, motion practice, negotiations, trial and appeal.
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues to develop and implement effective litigation strategies
- Manage discovery, including drafting discovery requests and responses, taking and defending depositions, and analyzing medical records.
- All candidates must possess excellent academic credentials, outstanding written and oral advocacy skills and strong software/technological skills including competency in Word, Outlook
- and Westlaw. Ideal candidates will be well organized, detail oriented and able to independently manage a caseload where work is time sensitive.
- Ability to take full responsibility for files
- Directs support staff on clerical and administrative matters related to handling legal proceedings
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Experience You Will Need
- Must have a law degree from an A.B.A. accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
- Must have an active law license to practice in Michigan and be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
- 2+ years of experience handling PIP litigation preferred. Additional handling of first and third party claims for auto carriers is a plus.
- Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law commensurate with level of experience
- Experience presenting and cross-examining lay and expert witnesses
- Experience working in a paperless electronic environment
- Strong automation/technological skills for lawsuit handling and courtroom presentation
- Preferred qualification is the handling of PIP defense matters
Schedule: We offer flexible work hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with options like 8–4, 8:30–4:30, or 9–5. We do our best to support individual preferences, though schedules may be
adjusted as needed to ensure strong coverage and teamwork.
We also offer a hybrid schedule: team members work onsite four days a week and can work remotely one day a week
