Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Full-Time Speech Therapist to join our team. In this vital role, you will deliver expert speech therapy services to residents, focusing on enhancing communication skills and swallowing functions. Your work will directly contribute to improving the quality of life for our seniors through personalized patient care, assessments, and early intervention strategies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments for residents, identifying individual needs and developing tailored treatment plans
- Provide engaging speech therapy sessions focused on improving communication, swallowing, and cognitive functions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and caregivers to ensure holistic patient care
- Document progress notes, treatment outcomes, and maintain accurate patient records in compliance with regulatory standards
- Educate residents and their families about speech therapy techniques, exercises, and strategies for ongoing support
- Participate in early intervention programs to address developmental delays in residents requiring specialized care
- Stay current with advancements in speech therapy practices, physiology knowledge, and medical terminology to ensure best practices
Requirements
- Valid license or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist or Speech Therapist in the relevant jurisdiction
- Prior experience working with a geriatric population
- Strong knowledge of speech therapy techniques, physiology, anatomy relevant to communication and swallowing functions
- Experience conducting patient assessments and developing individualized treatment plans
- Familiarity with medical terminology and documentation standards within healthcare environments and in skilled nursing settings
- Passion for patient care with excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach
- Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment while managing multiple cases
