Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

We are hiring Utility Workers for seasonal roles supporting the Parks and Cemetery Department. This position involves hands-on maintenance, landscaping, equipment operation, and general facility upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain parks, cemeteries, medians, and parkways (weed control, upkeep, landscaping)
• Install, repair, and maintain sprinkler systems
• Operate equipment such as loaders, backhoes, snow plows, tractors, and mowers
• Perform general maintenance tasks including painting, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds work
• Plant and maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers
• Clean and maintain public areas, including waste collection and litter removal
• Perform snow removal from parking lots, sidewalks, and public spaces
• Set up and dismantle equipment for park and recreation programs
• Assist in construction and development of park facilities (grading, drainage, foundation work)
• Maintain and repair tools and equipment as needed
• Open, close, lock, and secure facilities
• Maintain accurate records and reports
• Respond to after-hours emergencies or urgent maintenance needs

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
• Basic math skills, including metric and standard unit conversions
• Strong teamwork and reliability

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Outdoor work environment with exposure to varying weather conditions
• Frequent lifting, bending, and physical activity
• Operation of various hand tools and heavy equipment
