Become a Survey Technician with the Department of Transportation and support projects that keep communities connected! This position supports a survey team by operating tools and equipment that help produce accurate information for transportation projects. The work involves both technical tasks and teamwork in a variety of field settings. As a Survey Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Operation: Operate surveying instruments and tools to support a wide range of survey activities
- Data Collection: Use equipment and software to gather and process control networks and survey data
- Plan Interpretation: Read and evaluate roadway, bridge, and property documents to verify accuracy
- Team Communication: Communicate with team members using radio, verbal, and hand signals
- Field Leadership: Assist with plan reviews and help resolve daily survey challenges when serving as temporary lead
- Equipment Care: Maintain surveying instruments, supplies, and items stored in the survey truck

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or
- One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
