Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) position managing ED boarding patients, requiring at least one prior travel assignment and a DC RN license.

Details
  • IMC unit within a hospital-based ED boarding setting, caring for admitted patients awaiting inpatient bed placement
  • Patient population includes admitted patients with varying diagnoses boarding in the ED
  • Patient ratio of 1:4-5
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Charting via Cerner EMR
  • Medications dispensed via Pyxis
Requirements
  • Active DC RN license required; pending DC license accepted, but license must be in hand prior to start date
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment required
  • Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and a score of 100% on lethal rhythms
  • Required skills: Cerner, Med/Surg Telemetry, telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, IV therapy/phlebotomy, IV starts, heparin protocols, PCA, nasal cannula, and isolation precautions
  • Preferred skills: cardiac telemetry, ER holding, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Responsible for assuming care of admitted patients with varying diagnoses who are boarding in the ED while awaiting placement on an inpatient unit
  • Any color scrubs permitted
  • Candidates within 60 miles of the facility may be subject to a local pay rate
  • All time off and scheduling requests must be noted at the time of initial application
  • Candidates must be willing and able to care for COVID-19 patients
