Job Description
The LPN / Paramedic delivers care to patients with a varying degree of acute illness and/or injury. The care provided by the LPN/Paramedic is determined through the process of patient triaging, information gathering, and intervention under the supervision of the attending provider or a registered nurse. The LPN/ Paramedic delivers care under their scope of practice as set forth by the State of Ohio law.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Documents patient information and patient care given.
· Responds as part of the team effort to emergencies.
· Recognizes cardiac dysrhythmias and performs ACLS intervention at the direction of the Provider or RN.
· Intubates patients if given direction by the Provider.
· Delivers care to patients as directed, including comfort measures, emotional/supportive care, and general information delivery
· 12-lead EKG.
· Initiation of cardiac monitoring.
· Initiation of IV/IO and infusion of fluids manually or by infusion device at the physician ordered rate, or initiation of a saline lock.
· Insertion of nasogastric or orogastric tube.
· Wound preparation for suturing and suture tray preparation. Cleanse wounds/dress wounds with appropriate dressing materials.
· Application of commercially manufactured splint, sling, ace wrap, cock-up, air casts, soft or rigid C-collar, soft cast, knee and shoulder immobilizer, and clavicle strap.
· Initiate aerosol treatments per physician order.
· Fingerstick blood sugar.
· Assists with lumbar puncture.
· Visual acuity testing.
Paramedic Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an accredited program of paramedic training.
- Must possess a current/Active certification as an EMT-Paramedic from the State of Ohio.
- Previous experience in hospital or clinical setting preferred.
- Current certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS through the American Heart Association.
- Basic computer skills; previous experience with EHR preferred (knowledge of Epic is a plus).
LPN Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Previous experience in hospital or clinical setting preferred.
- Current certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS through the American Heart Association.
- Basic computer skills; previous experience with EHR preferred (knowledge of Epic is a plus).
