About this job
Job Description
Technical Interior Designer – Corporate Workplace Interiors (5–8 Years) | New York, NY
Location: New York, NY | Schedule: Full-time, 4 days in office + 1 remote day | Salary: $90,000–$115,000 (based on experience, qualifications and skill set)
I'm working with a leading, award-winning New York interior architecture firm, a practice with one of the strongest corporate workplace portfolios in the city, including Fortune 500 and major financial-sector clients, to find an experienced Technical Designer who can run technical project execution from survey through close-out.
If you know your way around NYC codes, take ownership of a coordinated CD set, and want your name on workplace projects that actually get built, this is a strong move.
What you'll be doing:
- Site surveys, documentation and general code review (egress, fixture counts, path of travel)
- Preparing budget scope drawings and specifications
- Full construction documentation including technical detailing and specs
- Technical coordination with the design team, client, landlord and consultants
- Redline reviews, issuing documentation and responding to bidder questions
- Weekly project meetings, RFI responses, site inspections and layout approvals
- Coordinating revisions, bulletins and addenda; reviewing shop drawings and submittals
- Punch-list inspection, compilation and distribution; project close-out documentation
What you'll bring:
- Minimum 5 years' continuous technical experience in corporate / commercial / workplace / retail banking interiors
- Expert proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, including strong x-ref, layer and layer-management discipline
- Full understanding of contract documents and standards
- Knowledge of NYC and IBC Building Codes, plus NYC Zoning
- A detail-oriented, multi-tasking mindset and excellent communication skills
Why this firm: Decades of stability, a deep bench of repeat corporate clients, direct exposure to landlords, consultants and clients (no layers between you and the work), and a hybrid schedule.
Our client is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
