About this job

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Interpret and execute work orders based on machining instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Load, operate and maintain various CNC machines and other machining equipment (2-axis lathe, 4th axis mill) to produce parts conforming to print requirements.
  • Make basic programs or tooling adjustments to produce conforming parts.
  • Document programs or set up datasheet adjustments to master files for future use.
  • Achieve precise tolerances (.0005) and surface finishes through quality workmanship.
  • Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Document all work performed on product within the ERP system.
  • Perform daily routine preventive maintenance and checks on machine(s).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions and machining issues.
  • Report/investigate repetitive problems and propose solutions to resolve them.
  • Participate in process improvement and optimization initiatives.
  • Adhere to established Company procedures and policies, work schedule, attendance standards and safety standards.
  • Manage workstation organization and cleanliness, and practice good housekeeping techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned/necessary.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office) and experience in ERP systems.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing principals and basic shop math.
  • Able to perform standard to metric numerical conversions.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and general inspection tools.
  • Proficient using indicating drills, tools, and proper tool selection.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret dimensional work instructions, blueprints, and engineering drawings/diagrams.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, set up data sheets, and measurement instructions.
  • Ability to change machine set ups (pallets, collets, etc.).
  • Ability to perform diagnostics, repairs, and troubleshoot basic programming and machine issues.
  • Work efficiently to finish jobs in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other departments: Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement Quality, etc.
  • Capable of making custom machined tooling and fixtures.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to use common hand tools, calipers, micrometers and other measuring and test tools.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) years' experience as a Machinist in any of the following disciplines: ID/OD/Jig/Surface Grinding Hone, CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Manual Mill, Manual Lathe
  • CMM experience.
  • Basic proficiency using SolidWorks, Mastercam.
  • Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes related to the aerospace industry
  • Basic understanding of ISO and AS9100.
  • Basic knowledge of machining principles, tooling selection, and cutting techniques.
  • Basic understanding of CNC programming, G code, M code and machine control
  • Basic understanding of material properties and machining capabilities of various metals-will be working with all types of alloys-must be knowledgeable working with titanium, Inconel, and other super alloys.

Desired
  • Previous experience in production and quality control methods (ISO9001, AS9100 etc.)
  • Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing implementation and production systems
