Job Description
Community Hospital is seeking a Mammography Technologist to join our radiology team. The Mammography Tech performs screening and diagnostic mammogram procedures to detect breast tissue abnormalities. This position ensures patient care, safety, and imaging accuracy while maintaining compliance with radiologic standards, HIPAA regulations, and hospital policies.
Responsibilities
Perform mammography and digital radiography imaging studies following established radiologic standards and regulations.
Explain mammographic procedures to patients, obtain clinical history, and address patient concerns using AIDET communication.
Position patients and adjust radiologic equipment controls for exposure time and distance according to exam specifications.
Follow radiation safety and protection protocols for patients, self, and other healthcare team members.
Maintain clean equipment and follow infection control and hand hygiene policies.
Enter patient information and retrieve radiologic orders using the electronic medical record system.
Complete clinical administrative duties including labeling images, completing forms, and maintaining procedure logs.
Check radiologic equipment performance and report any malfunctions to the Director of Radiology.
Assist the radiology team with patient flow, clinical tasks, and administering injectables as needed.
Manage inventory and maintain adequate radiologic supplies in the department.
Comply with state and federal regulations including Critical Access Hospital requirements and State of Missouri regulations.
Attend scheduled staff meetings and participate in professional development programs and continuing education.
Qualifications
ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology.
Mammography certification or Mammographic Radiologic Technology endorsement.
Basic Life Support certification or completion within six months of hire.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Proficient computer skills and experience with electronic medical records.
Strong communication skills and attention to clinical detail.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with patient positioning.
