Position Summary
A leading electric generation organization is seeking a Plant Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a large-scale power generation facility. This position is ideal for candidates with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, although other engineering disciplines and related technical degrees may be considered.
The Plant Engineer will provide engineering support for plant systems and equipment, coordinate capital and maintenance projects, and work closely with operations and maintenance teams to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and overall plant performance. Opportunities are available for both entry-level engineers and experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the preparation of construction drawings, technical specifications, and engineering documentation for plant process equipment.
- Support the design, installation, and commissioning of new and replacement equipment.
- Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to achieve engineering and operational objectives.
- Troubleshoot plant systems and equipment to resolve operational, maintenance, and safety-related issues.
- Develop engineered solutions that improve production, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify technical and operational training needs and assist in developing improvement initiatives.
- Initiate and support capital improvement and operations and maintenance (O&M) projects.
- Monitor project activities to ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Maintain engineering records, work order documentation, drawings, and technical data files.
- Analyze operational and maintenance data and provide recommendations for performance improvements.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance plant efficiency, reliability, availability, and equipment life expectancy.
- Provide engineering support to various departments as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented industrial environment.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.
Preferred
- Experience in a power generation, industrial manufacturing, refinery, chemical processing, or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment, fixed equipment, and plant maintenance practices.
- Experience with project management, equipment design, and process improvement initiatives.
