Skilled Carpenter Helper

Craftsmen Contractors is seeking an experienced Carpenter Helper for a commercial project in the River Ridge, Louisiana area. The job will consist of various carpentry-related duties. Need to know how to read a tape measure and have experience working with hand tools and power tools. This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is for day shifts (Monday through Friday, starting at 7 AM).

Pay is $20/hour.

Weekly pay by direct deposit.

Job duties:

• Help install foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
• Help fit and install window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using a carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and laser levels.
• Help erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground levels.
• Help shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools.
• Help build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
• Help assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
• Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace them using hand tools.
• Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
• Move necessary materials around the jobsite as assigned.
• Clean up worksite debris.

Job requirements:

• Need to have basic hand tools and reliable transportation to get to the job site.
• Have all the required PPE (hard hat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, safety gloves, and safety vest).
• Know how to read a tape measure.
• Experience working with hand tools and power tools.
• At least 1 year of Carpenter Helper experience required.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans, and other specifications.
