Cable Technician

Job Description:

Insight Global is seeking a Low Voltage / Cabling Technician for a top engineering and construction services client. This individual will support onsite operations at a large industrial facility, focusing on the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of telecommunications and low-voltage cabling systems. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in copper and fiber cabling, follows safety protocols closely, and is comfortable working fully onsite in a hands-on environment. Day-to-Day:

• Install and repair residential and commercial cable and telecom systems
• Perform cable terminations, splicing, labeling, and testing
• Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot cabling and telecom equipment
• Set up and support internet and network infrastructure
• Read and follow blueprints, codes, and industry standards
• Safely operate hand and power tools
• Adhere strictly to safety policies and procedures
• Support ongoing maintenance and upgrades of telecom systems

Must-Haves:

• 2–3 years of hands-on cabling experience (terminations, splicing, etc.)
• • Cat 5 cat 6 or fiber and copper cables as well
• Strong knowledge of telecommunications systems
• Experience with copper and fiber optic cabling
• Low-voltage cabling experience
• Ability to terminate, test, and troubleshoot cables
• Familiarity with TIA and EIA standards
• Experience labeling and testing horizontal cabling
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely
• Dependable personal vehicle (no shared rides)
• Ability to complete required drug screening within 72 hours of hire

Plusses:

• Experience in both residential and commercial environments
• Prior work on large industrial or aerospace sites
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
• Knowledge of local codes and industry standards
