6-month contract - Onsite role
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay rate: $60 - 72/hr.
5S Facilitator: This opening is for one 5S Facilitator. Must have experience leading 5S implementations or Lean initiatives in a manufacturing or operations environment.
Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
5S Implementation & Deployment
• Lead the design and execution of a site-wide 5S rollout aligned to the company’s Operational Excellence framework.
• Drive implementation of all five pillars of 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) within a targeted six-month deployment window.
• Develop and execute a detailed rollout plan by area, including sequencing, milestones, and ownership.
• Ensure 5S standards are practical, visual, and integrated into daily operations.
Kaizen Leadership
• Plan and lead 5S Kaizen events across manufacturing, warehouse, maintenance, and support areas.
• Facilitate cross-functional teams during Kaizens, ensuring engagement, accountability, and timely completion of actions.
• Track and report Kaizen outcomes, including improvements in safety, efficiency, visual management, and space utilization.
Coaching, Capability Building & Handoff
• Train supervisors, operators, and support teams on 5S principles, standards, and expectations.
• Coach leaders on sustaining 5S through leader standard work, Gemba walks, and tiered accountability.
• Develop and mentor a site-based specialist or junior engineer who will assume long-term ownership of 5S sustainment.
• Create clear documentation, standard work, audit routines, and visual management tools to enable independent sustainment.
• Execute a structured handoff plan to ensure long-term ownership is fully transitioned prior to the end of the 12 month assignment.
Sustainment & Governance
• Establish 5S audit processes, visual scorecards, and escalation mechanisms.
• Support site leadership in embedding 5S into daily management systems.
• Identify sustainment risks and lead corrective actions to prevent regression during and after the transition period.
Communication & Change Management
• Serve as the primary site point of contact for 5S implementation.
• Communicate progress, risks, and support needs to site leadership through clear, data-driven updates.
• Reinforce a culture of ownership, discipline, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
• Proven experience leading 5S implementations or Lean initiatives in a manufacturing or operations environment.
• Strong facilitation skills with experience leading Kaizen events and cross-functional teams.
• Working knowledge of Lean, visual management, and operational excellence systems (experience with structured frameworks preferred).
• Ability to operate with urgency and structure in change-intensive environments.
• Strong communication and coaching skills across all organizational levels.
• Hands-on, shop-floor-oriented leadership style.
Key Success Factors
• Site-wide 5S implementation completed within six months.
• Clear, visual, and standardized 5S practices adopted by operations.
• A trained site specialist or junior engineer capable of independently sustaining and improving 5S.
• Measurable improvements in safety, organization, flow, and visual control.
