Job Description

The Compounder plays a key role in batching, mixing, and compounding materials in a manufacturing environment, ensuring consistent product quality and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This role requires a strong understanding of basic chemistry and plant process flow, as well as a commitment to continually upgrading skills to fully understand all plant processes. The position directly supports the production of mission-critical materials used in aerospace, defense, medical devices, and energy applications, providing a strong sense of purpose and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Perform batching, compounding, and pre-weigh procedures accurately and consistently according to established formulas and production requirements.
  • Apply a solid understanding of basic chemistry to monitor, control, and adjust process parameters during mixing and compounding operations.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor plant process flow, equipment performance, and material conditions, and identify any deviations or abnormalities.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues as they arise, using knowledge of chemistry and plant operations to resolve problems efficiently.
  • Continually upgrade and expand knowledge of the entire plant process flow and the basic chemistry of all plant processes.
  • Handle raw materials and finished products safely, including lifting up to 50 pounds to shoulder height as required by production tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of batches, materials, and process data in accordance with SOPs and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other operators, technicians, and supervisors to support smooth production operations across all shifts.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
Essential Skills
  • 1–5 years of experience in batching, compounding, and pre-weigh procedures in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Understanding of basic chemistry as it applies to mixing, compounding, and plant process operations.
  • Demonstrated experience working under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Knowledge and understanding of following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to shoulder height safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
  • Ability to monitor and troubleshoot process issues using a combination of chemical knowledge and practical plant experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent, high-quality work.
  • Ability to work effectively in a shift-based production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • SAP experience is a plus, particularly for recording production data and tracking materials.
  • Willingness to continually learn and upgrade skills to fully understand the entire plant process flow and the chemistry of all plant processes.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills in a production setting.
  • Comfort working in an environment focused on mission-critical products for aerospace, defense, medical devices, and energy applications.
Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing plant that produces magnesium and zirconium materials used in aerospace, defense, medical devices, and energy applications. The work environment follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and process consistency. Operators work with batching, mixing, and compounding equipment and handle raw materials and finished products that may require lifting up to 50 pounds to shoulder height. Current shifts run Monday through Friday on a rotating schedule: 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., and 11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m. The 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. shift is a temporary assignment, while the other shifts offer potential for long-term employment if appropriate. The environment supports a strong sense of purpose, as employees contribute to mission-critical products used in demanding applications.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Flemington, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
