ACADEMIC AFFAIRS ANNOUNCES AN OPENING IN THE LIBERAL ARTS & SCIENCES DIVISION
POSITION: Professor, Psychology
Description of Duties:
Primarily responsible for teaching fifteen (15) credit hours per semester of introductory psychology and other lower-division psychology courses. In addition to teaching courses in a traditional classroom setting, fully online, and as flex-hybrids at Rose State, work will include teaching concurrent high school classes on high school campuses and via distance education. Reports to the Division Dean. Maintain a minimum twenty-seven and one-half hour per week assignment on campus. The minimum assignment includes office hours and other College-related duties. Cultivate and maintain professional relationships. Deliver effective instruction. Maintain records in accordance with College and division policies. Participate in service to the College and the local community. Collaborate with colleagues in the development of new program and course offerings, relationships with four-year institutions for student transfer, and micro credential offerings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in psychology or Master's Degree and eighteen (18) graduate hours in psychology. Two (2) years recent experience teaching college-level Psychology. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to use flexible delivery methods to accommodate individual learning styles. Learner-centered teaching skills. Proficiency with computers and MS Office (Word and Outlook), video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, and Learning Management Systems such as Canvas. Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. required. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Ability to drive or provide other transportation among campuses if needed.
Desired Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in psychology with developmental emphasis and/or counseling/clinical focus with experience in mental health practice. Four years recent experience teaching college-level psychology courses at a community college. One year of experience teaching psychology classes in a high school or concurrent high school program.
