CNC Swiss Lathe Specialist (Medical Implants)

A day in the life at Avalign Integrated Medical — Mentor, OH (1st Shift)

You arrive at our Mentor, Ohio facility for first shift and head straight to your Star Swiss cell. The morning starts with verifying your setup, dialing in offsets, and checking tools to ensure every cut holds tight tolerances. You review the blueprint, setup sheets, and work instructions, then run a first piece and document the inspection results. Throughout the day, you collaborate with engineering and quality to refine the process, complete preventive maintenance, and keep your area spotless and efficient using 5S.

Core responsibilities

• Independently set up, operate, and troubleshoot Star CNC Swiss machines to produce precision medical implants.
• Make offsets, perform tool changes, and adjust programs or parameters to consistently achieve demanding tolerances.
• Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions to verify conformance to customer specifications.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and optical comparators; record first-piece inspection findings.
• Complete routine and daily preventative maintenance (P.M.) and keep accurate maintenance records and work orders.
• Follow strict quality controls, including ID & traceability protocols, for every lot and component.
• Partner with engineering and quality teams to optimize cycle times, tooling life, and part quality.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation aligned with 5S principles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years operating and setting up CNC lathe machines.
• At least 1 year reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Minimum 1 year applying GD&T and measuring tight tolerances with micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Strong problem-solving ability and exceptional attention to detail.
