Job Description
Estate Planning Attorney
Career Consulting Partners has partnered with a successful boutique law firm in the Montclair/Rancho Cucamonga area in search of an Estate Planning and Trust Administration Attorney. This is a tech-forward firm with a 30+ year legacy in trust and estate law, looking for an attorney interested in a direct path to partnership.
This is not a back-office drafting mill. You will fully own your caseload from intake to resolution. You will drive legal planning strategy, manage client relationships, supervise staff, and guide clients through the comprehensive estate planning process and uncontested trust and estate administrations. This position is strictly transactional and advisory, with absolutely no litigation.
Responsibilities:
Design and draft comprehensive, customized estate plans, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, durable powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.
Advise trustees, executors, and beneficiaries on fiduciary duties, trust interpretation, trust funding, and California Probate Code compliance.
Manage uncontested trust and estate administrations from inception through final distribution.
Draft and file uncontested probate documents, including petitions for probate/letters of administration, statutory notifications, inventories, accountings, and Heggstad petitions.
Administer first-party, third-party, and pooled disability trusts, ensuring strict compliance with Medi-Cal, SSI, and public benefit requirements.
Counsel families on planning for incapacity, wealth transfer strategies, and asset protection.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active California State Bar membership.
2+ years of experience focused on transactional estate planning and trust administration.
Proven experience advising fiduciaries (trustees, administrators) through the administration process.
Exceptional client-facing skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into empathetic, clear advice for clients.
Strong legal drafting skills and high attention to detail.
Ability to manage a full caseload independently with minimal supervision.
Proficiency with legal technology, estate planning software, and case management systems.
Independent judgment, strong organizational skills, and proactive initiative.
Base Compensation: $120,000 - $170,000
Performance bonuses for exceeding 1,800 annual billable hours and for case origination
Case origination bonuses for cases that you bring to the Firm
