Analyst Financial Services I (Contract)
Location: San Antonio, TX (78215)
Pay Rate: $30/hour
Duration: 12-month contract
Position Summary
The Analyst Financial Services I supports key accounting, reporting, and financial analysis functions within a dynamic finance organization. This role performs complex account reconciliations, technical accounting research, and prepares audit schedules to ensure compliance with financial standards. The analyst will develop financial reports and cash flow analyses to support budgeting, debt management, and financial planning activities.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with financial and reporting requirements while supporting departments such as Accounting, Finance, or Controllership. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and able to communicate financial concepts effectively across various levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute financial and statistical reports, including variance explanations using root-cause analysis
- Support annual external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
- Maintain and update dashboards, including ratio calculations and trend analysis
- Perform reconciliations and financial data validation to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Analyze benchmarks and investigate variances
- Conduct technical accounting research and develop supporting documentation and position papers
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial processes, policies, and procedures
- Develop and maintain desktop procedures, including process flowcharts
- Communicate financial insights clearly to internal stakeholders and external partners
- Provide responsive financial support to internal departments
- Assist with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Auditing, or related field
(or 60 completed credit hours and actively pursuing a degree) - Foundational knowledge of accounting and financial analysis principles
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to make decisions and recommendations with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in financial analysis or supporting operational business units
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, PeopleSoft, or Hyperion
Work Environment
This is primarily an indoor, office-based role requiring computer use, communication, and repetitive tasks. Occasional travel may be required for meetings or training sessions.
Physical Requirements
This position is sedentary in nature, requiring extended periods of sitting, with occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).
