This is a part time position 24 hours a week (3 days)

Primary function.

Provide a consistently clean, comfortable, and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff by cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas as trained. Collect soiled linen, wash, dry, fold and distribute according to established policies& procedures, maintain established standards for quality control and compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

Duties and responsibilities

1. Perform daily housekeeping duties in assigned work areas according to established policy and procedures.

  • Performs the seven-step cleaning procedure while cleaning dismissal rooms, daily room cleans, common areas, office to assure quality performance.
  • Cleans and maintains all floor surfaces.
  • Remove trash and linens in proper containers and always keep away from your body.
  • Cleans and sanitizes shelves, ledges, vents, woodwork, and window/picture frames.
  • Dusts, damp wipes, spot cleans washes fixtures, walls, and furnishings with the specified cleaning/disinfecting agents according to our policy and procedures.

2. Removes and handles Biohazards waste according to established procedures.

  •  Place isolation waste in proper container, and place in appropriate area for storage.

3. Cross trains in all assigned departmental areas of the Facility.

  • Trains in ER cleaning, Surgery cleaning, or any other area that is requested while working on a weekend shift.
  • Trains in all ancillary areas of hospital and laundry.
  • Training new hires in accordance with established policies and procedures.

4. Performs various cleaning duties P.T., O.P., and Primary Care Clinic.

  • Performs the seven-step cleaning procedure while cleaning dismissal rooms, daily room cleans, common areas, offices to assure quality performance.
  • Remove trash and linens in proper containers and always keep away from your body.
  • Cleans and sanitizes shelves, ledges, vents, woodwork, and window/picture frames.
  • Dusts, damp wipes, spot cleans washes fixtures, walls, and furnishings with the specified cleaning/disinfecting agents according to our policy and procedures.

5. Perform laundry duties that are required daily to provide clean and safe laundry for our customers.

  • Picks up laundry from soiled utility rooms in covered soiled cart.
  • Weighs all soiled linen, logs the weights, then sorts.
  • Runs washer at designated capacity.
  • Washes and dry clothes according to regulations.
  • Treats all linen as isolation linen and launder in water temperature of 160 degrees.
  • Inspects and folds linen. Places in the clean utility room.
  • Par levels will be kept on carts in the nursing units.
  • Pre-treats all linen that is heavily soiled.

6. Maintain inventory of house linens; and housekeeping supplies in assigned J-Closet.

  • Monthly turn in linen usage for all departments.
  • Assist in training of new employees.
  • Keeps sufficient supplies in J-Closet so that carts can be restocked without trips to storage areas.

7. Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, trade school graduate.
  • Ability to understand Housekeeping/Laundry procedures and machine operation.
  • Previous experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Must be able to deal effectively in stressful, short notice situations.
  • May be required to bend, stoop and lift up to 50lbs daily.

Working conditions

  • Accepts responsibility to wear personal protective gear as appropriate
  • Are regularly exposed to contaminants, diseases and or infections. They work with cleaning chemical and clean soiled items.
  • Work with or near potentially hazardous substances

Physical requirements

The physical and sensory abilities required for this classification include:

  1. Lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, throwing, dragging; either in single movements or repeated short bursts
  2. Bending, stretching, twisting, reaching, stooping, balancing, squatting, climbing, crawling, kneeling and assuming crouched body positions
  3. Coordinated, skillful movements of fingers, hands, and arms, and unusually light or firm gripping
  4. Drive a hospital vehicle to transport others and/or equipment
  5. Perform tasks requiring visual color discrimination, depth perception, distinguish and identify sounds and voices in a noisy environment distinguish location of non-speech sounds, hear and distinguish low frequency or quiet sounds, detect odors and aromas, project a voice that can be heard over loud noises, and be conscious or perceive objects or their qualities through touch
  6. Perform tasks where body may encounter vibration, moving objects (machinery, vehicle’s, etc.), heat, fire or steam, electricity, and hand and/or power tools
