Position Overview 

A Texas hospital is seeking a General Surgeon for ongoing locum tenens call coverage.

This opportunity offers low-volume 24-hour beeper call with limited callback burden, flexible scheduling, temporary privileges availability, and ongoing coverage needs. Physicians will support inpatient consults, emergency department surgical evaluations, trauma-related general surgery needs, and urgent operative cases when necessary.

The facility maintains a favorable call structure and provides an excellent balance of compensation and lifestyle compared to many traditional General Surgery locum assignments.

Compensation Highlights

• $3,000 per 24-hour call shift
• $325/hour callback after 2 included hours
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice covered per client policy
• Ongoing coverage available

Job Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour General Surgery call coverage
• Respond to emergency department surgical consults
• Evaluate inpatient surgical consults
• Perform urgent and emergent operative procedures as needed
• Round on assigned surgical patients
• Manage trauma-related general surgery cases
• Coordinate care with emergency medicine, hospitalists, anesthesia, nursing, and ancillary teams
• Complete documentation in Meditech EMR
