Position: Material Handler

Location: 1000 Technology Drive, West Columbia, SC 29170

Duration: 3+ months (Possibility FTE)

Shift: 1st Shift 07:00 AM – 05:00 PM

Payrate: $18/hr. on W2

 

Role Summary:
The Material Handler 2 is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring the timely movement, distribution, replenishment, and tracking of materials, parts, and supplies throughout the production floor. This role helps maintain continuous production flow by keeping workstations stocked, monitoring inventory levels, and accurately recording material transactions. Material Handler 2 employees typically have at least one year of related material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing experience and can work with limited supervision on routine assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, examine, stock, and distribute materials to manufacturing and production areas.
  • Pick up and deliver materials throughout the facility while maintaining accurate inventory and material flow records.
  • Replenish production line materials and ensure workstations remain stocked to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate material shortages to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist operators and production staff in locating required materials and supplies.
  • Restock depleted inventory and maintain organized material storage locations.
  • Maintain clean, organized material aisles, racks, and storage areas.
  • Perform inventory transactions and inquiries using inventory management systems.
  • Move materials manually or with material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • Monitor material movement between departments to support production schedules.
  • Conduct kit audits and verify material accuracy as needed.
  • Support other operational areas as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of warehouse, inventory, logistics, material handling, or manufacturing experience.
  • Basic computer and inventory system experience.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read work instructions, labels, and inventory documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing production lines.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and material replenishment processes.
  • Experience using handheld scanners, RF devices, or warehouse management systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking throughout the shift.
  • Regular handling and movement of materials and components.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work around moving equipment and in a production environment.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and production facility environment.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical equipment and repetitive tasks.
  • May require operating material handling equipment and working around active production lines.
