Back Office Medical Assistant (Women’s Health)

Location: Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA), CA

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Back Office Medical Assistant (MA) to join our Women’s Health team in Downtown Los Angeles. This role supports providers in delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment focused on women’s health services.

The ideal candidate is professional, organized, and experienced in assisting with sensitive exams and procedures while maintaining patient comfort and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Room patients and obtain vital signs (BP, weight, temperature, etc.)
  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures, including OB/GYN visits
  • Assist providers with women’s health procedures such as:
    • Pap smears
    • Pelvic exams
    • IUD insertions/removals
    • Prenatal visits
  • Perform clinical tasks including:
    • Injections and vaccinations
    • Phlebotomy and specimen collection
    • Urinalysis and pregnancy testing
  • Maintain accurate documentation in EMR systems
  • Clean, stock, and prepare exam rooms between patients
  • Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and equipment
  • Provide patient education and follow-up instructions under provider direction
  • Maintain patient privacy and comfort during sensitive procedures
  • Support workflow coordination with front office staff
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Current MA certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred
  • BLS/CPR certification required (or within 30 days of hire)
  • Minimum 1 year of back office MA experience required
  • Prior experience in OB/GYN or women’s health strongly preferred
  • Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, eClinicalWorks, NextGen)

  • Strong clinical and patient care skills, especially in women’s health
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to multitask in a high-volume clinical setting
  • Team-oriented with a positive and supportive attitude

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
