Job Title: QA Technician

Job Description

The QA Technician supports food safety and quality assurance activities by monitoring production lines, verifying compliance with HACCP and GMP standards, and performing routine quality checks and sampling. This role focuses on ensuring that raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet established specifications through careful documentation, inspection, and adherence to standard operating procedures. The QA Technician works closely with production and sanitation teams to maintain a clean, safe, and compliant environment across multiple production areas.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production lines to verify that products meet established quality and safety standards.
  • Perform quality reviews on production lines, including visual inspections and verification of process controls.
  • Collect samples from different production lines and areas for microbiological and other quality testing.
  • Inspect raw materials to confirm they meet specifications and are suitable for use in production.
  • Follow and enforce HACCP and GMP procedures throughout all quality and sanitation activities.
  • Adhere to and apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) in all quality, sampling, and sanitation tasks.
  • Operate and verify metal detectors on production lines to ensure proper function and product safety.
  • Perform swabbing and environmental sampling to assess cleanliness and verify sanitation effectiveness.
  • Apply the seven steps of cleaning to ensure thorough sanitation of equipment and production areas.
  • Calculate concentration levels of chemical cleaners to ensure correct and safe usage.
  • Accurately complete and maintain documentation related to inspections, sampling, testing, and cleaning activities.
  • Communicate effectively with production, sanitation, and other departments to address quality or sanitation issues.
  • Support the Sanitation Supervisor, leads, and associates by providing quality and sanitation feedback from the production floor.
  • Follow all site safety, hygiene, and quality policies while working in high care, ready-to-eat, and savory production areas.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with HACCP principles and their application in a production or food environment.
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a production setting.
  • Ability to follow and apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) consistently.
  • Experience with quality inspection and sampling activities on production lines.
  • Basic understanding of microbiology as it relates to product quality and sanitation.
  • Ability to perform swabbing and environmental sampling for cleanliness verification.
  • Capability to calculate and verify concentration levels of chemical cleaners.
  • Familiarity with metal detector operation and verification on production lines.
  • Strong documentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to interact with multiple departments.
  • Ability to work the 3rd shift from 8:00 PM to 4:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with occasional Sunday hours.
  • High school diploma or higher.
  • Bilingual communication skills.

  • Background in food production, high care, ready-to-eat, or similar environments.
  • Comfort working under the guidance of sanitation and quality leadership.
  • Ability to transition from a production role into a quality or sanitation-focused position.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Work Environment

This role operates in a production setting that includes high care, ready-to-eat, and savory product areas. The QA Technician spends most of the shift on the production floor, walking multiple lines and moving between different production zones to collect samples and conduct inspections. Work is performed on the 3rd shift from 8:00 PM to 4:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with some Sunday hours as needed. The environment requires adherence to strict hygiene, sanitation, and safety practices, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and compliance with all facility policies. The position involves close collaboration with sanitation supervisors, leads, associates, and production staff in a fast-paced, quality-focused setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CARSON, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
