ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms; collecting specimens, preparing for exams, etc.; collecting patient history; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information. Drug testing, phlebotomy, and OSHA compliance as assigned by the office.

Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned, which may include: sending/receiving medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; charge entry; managing documents and ensuring information is complete and properly filed.

Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned, which may include: setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol; cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; maintaining sterilization processes and records; ordering, sorting, storing, and restocking supplies.

Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned, which may include: respecting and promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; communicating patient or staff concerns promptly to supervisors.

Cross-trains to provide coverage for other staff as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma required; some college preferred.
  • Medical Office Assistant diploma preferred.

EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of one year of medical office assistant experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Certifications: Maintains CPR certification.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of the healthcare field and medical specialties
  • Knowledge of clinical assisting tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and families
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to learn and retain patient care procedures
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently
  • Ability to maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Statesville, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
