Schedule: Hybrid (3x a week) | Standard business hours

Contract Length: 3-months, with potential to extend or convert

Overview
The Sr. Accountant plays a key role in supporting a wide range of function-based accounting activities, including revenue deferrals, selling expenses, general and administrative (G&A) expenses, marketing, budgeting, and forecasting. This role is responsible for executing month-end close processes, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting monthly reporting activities. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working collaboratively across global teams.

Responsibilities
  • Perform various function-based accounting activities, including revenue deferrals, legal expense recording, marketing costs, depreciation, and other related transactions.
  • Execute month-end close procedures accurately and within deadlines, including preparing and approving journal entries, conducting variance analysis, and maintaining subledger data.
  • Collaborate with accounting, finance, and operations teams across North America and global locations.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and identifying discrepancies; escalate issues to management as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors to support timely and successful completion of audits and quarterly/annual reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement enhancements to optimize accounting workflows.
  • Support special projects and other ad-hoc assignments as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong accounting knowledge and technical expertise
  • Highly analytical with strong critical thinking skills
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and proactive with a problem-solving mindset
  • Solid understanding of internal controls and segregation of duties
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience working with multiple SAP systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw logical conclusions
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proactive approach to improving processes and driving innovation
  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with colleagues, management, and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master's degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Experience with SAP system implementation
