Security Officer

Schedule: Day Shift- Schedule will be discussed during interview

Starting Pay: $18.00 per hour, Starting 7/1 pay rate will be @ $18.35 per hour.

Excelsior Defense is seeking a professional, alert, and customer-focused Security Officer to serve at a beachfront residential community in St. Pete Beach.

This position is ideal for an individual who can confidently manage access control, interact professionally with residents and guests, and maintain a strong security presence while delivering exceptional customer service. The officer will serve as the first point of contact for residents, visitors, vendors, contractors, and delivery personnel entering the property.

Key Responsibilities

• Staff the community gatehouse and monitor property access.
• Verify all guests, visitors, contractors, vendors, and service personnel before granting access to the property.
• Contact residents to confirm authorization for visitors and guests when necessary.
• Issue visitor and contractor parking passes and direct vendors to approved parking and work areas.
• Monitor security cameras and observe property activity.
• Conduct routine foot patrols throughout the property, including building entrances, amenities, parking areas, and perimeter locations.
• Unlock designated doors and conduct morning property inspections.
• Identify and report suspicious activity, safety concerns, maintenance issues, and rule violations.
• Complete detailed Daily Activity Reports and incident documentation.
• Maintain a visible and professional presence throughout the community.

• Be comfortable approaching and professionally challenging unknown individuals on the property.
• Exercise sound judgment when determining who should and should not have access to the community.
• Remain courteous and respectful while enforcing property rules and security procedures.
• Demonstrate strong observation skills and attention to detail.
• Communicate effectively with residents, management, contractors, and visitors.
• Maintain composure and professionalism during difficult interactions.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.

Important Note About This Position

Because this is a beachfront community, and unauthorized individuals frequently attempt to gain access to the property, amenities, and beach access points. Officers must remain vigilant, confidently question unfamiliar individuals when appropriate, and consistently enforce access-control procedures while maintaining a professional and customer-service-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications

• Security, concierge, hospitality, residential community, HOA, or customer service experience.
• Experience working at gated communities, condominiums, or access-controlled properties.
• Strong report-writing and documentation skills.

Requirements

• Valid Florida Class D Security License or ability to obtain one.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a background screening and drug test.
• Ability to perform walking patrols and work outdoors as required.
