Mechanical Assembly Technician – 1st Shift (6:00am–2:30pm)

San Jose, CA
Pay: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour

Now hiring a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our team on 1st shift! This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‐on work, precision, and working in a cleanroom or chemical processing environment. As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will support our Advanced Technology Cleaning Centers (ATCC)® by processing and cleaning high‐tech tool chamber parts used in semiconductor manufacturing.

Position Overview

The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for eliminating micro‐contamination from customer parts using a variety of chemical, manual, and mechanical processes. Work may occur in cleanrooms, chemical processing areas, or production environments. Safety is our top priority, and proper PPE is required at all times.

Technicians follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and safety guidelines to ensure accurate processing, packaging, inspection, and shipment of parts. Advancement through Technician Levels I–IV is available based on certifications, performance, and skill development.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process parts using chemical and manual cleaning methods.
  • Perform receiving, wiping, scrubbing, masking, chemical processing, machine operation, etching, blasting, coating, drying, baking, and related tasks.
  • Follow all SOPs, Lean manufacturing processes, and company policies.
  • Complete training for assigned processes and maintain daily organization of work areas.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings and required training programs.
  • Handle hazardous chemicals safely and follow proper disposal procedures.
  • Maintain strong time‐management, organization, and task‐reporting skills.
  • Seek opportunities to learn new processes and advance technical abilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with fast turnaround.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word & Excel).
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional weekends or evenings.
  • Must be able to wear cleanroom gowning (hairnet, frock).
  • Ability to take SPC measurements and accurately log data.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to 6S practices.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred; AA in a technical field a plus.
  • 1+ year experience in manufacturing or materials processing required.
  • 3+ years hands‐on experience preferred.
  • Experience with parts cleaning, coating technologies, media blasting, or semiconductor environments is highly desirable.
  • Kaizen or Lean training is a plus.
  • Quality Assurance experience preferred.

Work Environment

  • Cleanroom and chemical processing environments.
  • Frequent interruptions and moderate noise levels.
  • PPE required at all times.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to kneel, reach, walk, push, pull, and grasp.
  • Stand for long periods.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs consistently.
  • Work with hazardous chemicals daily.
  • Read and comprehend written instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers.
