Job Description
Position Summary
Perkins Family Law PC is seeking a full-time, in-person, highly organized and detail-oriented paralegal to join our dedicated team. The firm opened on January 12, 2026. This senior-level paralegal position provides essential support to our attorney in all phases of family law litigation, collaborative law, and mediation, while focusing on delivering exceptional service and maintaining rigorous case organization. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in family law, a paralegal certificate, and possess strong communication and time management skills.
No relocation or work-visa sponsorship available.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Case Management & Organization:
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files, ensuring all files are complete and all documents are accurately categorized and easily accessible
- Manage the attorney's calendar, tracking all deadlines, court dates, and appointments
- Maintain compliance with California court rules, local court rules and procedures
Document Preparation:
- Draft routine legal documents (e.g. initial disclosures, declarations, settlement agreements), pleadings, motions (RFOs), correspondence, and formal discovery
- Assist in the preparation of preliminary and final financial disclosures, discovery demands, and mandatory judicial council forms
- Preparing outlines for hearings, including preparing all exhibits and preparing witnesses testimony
Discovery and Research:
- Prepare, draft, and file legal documents including but not limited to, petitions, declarations, discovery responses, financial disclosures, and court forms
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review
Client Communication:
- Act as a professional and primary point of contact for clients, providing case status updates and scheduling meetings
- Maintain client confidentiality and professional decorum at all times
Trial/Evidentiary Hearing Preparation:
- Assist in preparing for hearings, mediations, and trials, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of family law paralegal experience
- Paralegal certificate from an accredited program or equivalent work experience
- Strong understanding of California family law procedures and court rules
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in legal software, case management systems (CLIO), and a high proficiency in Google Workspace
- High level of accuracy, organization, and reliability, exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally charged subject matter with professionalism and empathy
