Cable Technician

Cable Technician- $25-$30/hr

We are currently hiring cable technicians with 2+ years of experience performing low voltage installation in a data center environment. Candidates are encouraged to apply ASAP as we have an immediate need in the Louisville Area. Qualified candidates should send an updated resume for consideration. Interviews are currently underway.

Data Center Technician Duties:

• Pulling and routing CAT5, CAT6, and Fiber cable in new construction and existing data center environments
• Dressing, labeling, and terminating low voltage cabling
• Installing support structures (ladder racks, racks, switches, servers, j-hooks, cable trays, basket trays, etc.)
• Performing rack-and-stack work, server installations, and patch panel installations
• Assisting with server and network hardware upgrades in a live data center environment
• Shutting down and bringing hosts back online following established procedures
• Installing network interface cards (NICs) and other server hardware components
• Coordinating with remote teams during upgrade activities and verifying network connectivity after upgrades
• Documenting completed work and maintaining accurate records throughout the upgrade process

Qualifications:

• Recent experience installing low voltage cable in a new construction environment is required
• Experience with rack-and-stack, server installations, hardware deployments, or data center operations is preferred
• Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, or NEC Standards
• Experience running or bending conduit, using digital multimeters, and testing cable is a plus
• Fiber experience including Anaerobic Terminations, SC and LC Connectors, and Splicing is a plus
• Ability to read and understand schematics, line diagrams, and written work instructions
• Basic understanding of server hardware and networking concepts is a plus
• Your own basic telecom tools including punch downs, snips, wire strippers, cordless drill, PPE (safety gear), etc.

Compensation:

• Competitive starting pay of $25-$30/hr depending on experience
