THE POSITION
As a Fiscal Management Specialist 2 with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will play a key role in supporting the financial health of the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Chester. This position gives you the opportunity to assist with budgeting, reporting, and accounting work that keeps the institution operating smoothly. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports the financial operations of SCI Chester by preparing, reviewing, and analyzing key fiscal information. The work helps maintain accurate budgets, inmate accounts, and General Fund reports that guide important financial decisions. As a Fiscal Management Specialist 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Budget Projections: Develop projections, review expenditures, and adjust accounts based on program needs
  • Budget Control: Analyze financial reports of open encumbrances to ensure accuracy and prevent lapses in program funds
  • Accounts Payable: Process payments, oversee invoice handling, and supervise accounting for expenditures
  • Fixed Assets: Oversee inventory records and authorize updates to fixed asset documentation
  • Accounts Receivable: Prepare refund documents, verify collections, and maintain supporting fiscal records
  • Staff Supervision: Guide the work of accounting staff and ensure training and performance standards are met

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,345.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Management Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in professional fiscal administration, and a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
