We Require
Three years of transportation planning experience
Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering, or a closely related field
Postgraduate degrees or professional-level-related transportation experience may substitute for education or experience on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire.

Experience working/editing/creating in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) platforms
Job Contributions
Provides professional transportation planning services in the review and evaluation of roadway designs, plans, and technical documents that support the development of a comprehensive, consistent, and well-planned transportation system; assure project plans are in conformance with Department goals, and in compliance with local, state, and Federal regulations
Manage transportation planning projects; prepare the scope of work and coordinate with Finance Division to assure proper procedures are followed; administer contracts in accordance with the Maricopa County Procurement Code; may review project work and coordinate with contractors to assure product is delivered in compliance with specifications; review and process contractor invoicing
Prepare planning project technical documents, specifications, schedules, and budgets; negotiate contracts and agreements; monitor work and report project status; assure projects meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
Engage stakeholders for input in planning projects to ensure all issues, plans, and standards are considered in the development of projects
Present transportation planning project issues at public meetings and board meetings; assure effective communication of project issues; represent the county at agency and board meetings, and state and regional advisory and planning groups
Conduct transportation planning research, compile data, and generate reports on a variety of issues related to transportation systems, asset management, land use, hydrology and drainage, or economic studies
Develop and present professional-quality staff reports on transportation project plans, recommendations, and project status; develop maps and other graphic presentations to illustrate planning concepts and issues
Coordinate with engineers, environmental professionals, communication staff, and other specialists required to complete projects
Act as a liaison for Capital Improvement Projects at the local, regional, and state levels
