THE POSITION

Step into the Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor role with the Department of Transportation and help guide important construction projects across the region! DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays a major role in guiding highway construction projects and ensuring that work meets required plans and standards. It involves coordination, oversight, and careful review of complex construction activities. As a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Project Leadership: Oversee construction activities on highway and bridge projects to ensure compliance with plans, standards, and specifications
  • Engineering Analysis: Evaluate technical information to address issues involving municipalities, utilities, emergency services, and other partners
  • Scheduling Support: Assist with reviewing schedules, identifying risks, and resolving issues that could affect project timelines
  • Documentation Management: Prepare and maintain project records, reports, estimates, and material certifications with accuracy
  • Compliance Oversight: Supervise inspection efforts to ensure materials and workmanship follow contract and regulatory requirements
  • Staff Supervision: Assign tasks, review performance, support training needs, and guide employees to meet project goals

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position may be eligible for alternative work schedule, per the manager's approval.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week, per the manager's approval. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bridgeville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $75,658.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.


Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
