Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Exciting opportunity for a skilled Special Education professional to make a real impact supporting students in a school setting near Summit, South Dakota! This contract position runs through May 22, 2025, offering 32 hours of work weekly (Monday through Friday) at a single school site. You’ll work as crucial in-class support for students with special needs, contributing both one-on-one and in small group settings. Lessons are provided, and a dedicated teacher plus a supportive behavior team will be present to guide and collaborate with you.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small-group instructional or behavioral support in special education classrooms and resource rooms
- Collaborate closely with supervising teacher and behavioral team to facilitate student engagement and progress
- Assist in lesson delivery, reinforcing learning objectives and adapting as needed for student needs
- Maintain accurate records of student growth, daily activities, and progress notes
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all students
Requirements:
- GED or high school diploma (South Dakota state requirement)
- Previous experience as a special education paraprofessional or related support role is preferred
- Compassion, patience, and a strong desire to help students of diverse needs succeed
- Comfortable receiving supervision and guidance within a collaborative school framework
- Ability to start promptly and complete required onboarding, including fingerprinting and background check
