About this job
Job Description
The Custodian position at Laguna Development Corporation (LDC) is a non-exempt role responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across all casino properties and related facilities. This role requires adherence to LDC core values, policies, and procedures, while consistently demonstrating professionalism, punctuality, and a positive, respectful attitude toward guests and coworkers. Key responsibilities include performing a wide range of custodial tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, trash removal, restroom sanitation, and cleaning gaming areas (excluding sensitive areas like the Cage and gaming offices), as well as maintaining windows, carpets, furnishings, and equipment. Custodians must follow safety standards at all times, understand proper use of cleaning chemicals, report hazards or equipment issues, and comply with custodial operating procedures while contributing to a team-oriented, supportive work environment.
In addition to routine cleaning duties, the Custodian is expected to build strong guest relationships through friendly, professional interactions, maintain knowledge of facility services and amenities, and assist with guest inquiries. The role involves working under pressure, including weekends, holidays, and irregular hours, while attending meetings, supporting team training through mentorship and the buddy system, and performing additional duties as assigned. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, though no licensing is required. The position involves using various cleaning machines (e.g., carpet extractors and vacuums) and requires significant physical activity such as lifting up to 50+ lbs., standing, bending, and repetitive motions. The work environment is indoors with exposure to noise and fumes, and candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening. No supervisory responsibilities are assigned, but the role demands teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to maintaining a hazard-free workplace.
