Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Take on an essential role supporting middle school students in a specialized educational setting near Suwanee, GA. As a contract Special Education Teacher, you'll work within the GNETS (Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Supports) program, serving students who need intensive behavioral, social-emotional, and academic support.
Your expertise in classroom management and individualized instruction will shape meaningful learning experiences, making a profound difference for students facing significant challenges. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support for students in the GNETS program
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, and progress
- Deliver behavioral interventions and utilize positive behavior support strategies
- Work collaboratively with school administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain all documentation to ensure ongoing compliance
- Differentiate instruction across multiple subjects to meet diverse learning needs
- Create and sustain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A valid Georgia Special Education General Curriculum Certification
- Certification in all academic content areas (please provide)
- Strong knowledge of behavior intervention and classroom management
- Experience with IEP development and implementation
- Three completed reference checks, including a recent supervisor (principal or equivalent)
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience teaching in GNETS or alternative education settings
- Background working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders
- Training in CPI, de-escalation, or behavior management
