The Mobile Maintenance Mechanic 4 provides mobile maintenance support across multiple facilities, performing inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems. This contract-to-hire role requires regular travel across Maui with occasional trips to neighboring islands, and involves both independent work and collaboration with an operations team to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant facility operations.
Responsibilities
- Support the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities.
- Perform general building repairs and maintenance on interior and exterior areas, including walls, flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, and lighting.
- Maintain lighting systems, including replacing bulbs and ballasts.
- Assist the operations team with maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.
- Carry out general interior maintenance such as hanging pictures, installing keyboard trays, and repairing office furniture systems.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs as needed.
- Complete special tasks including painting, basic locksmith work, tenant service requests, and other general maintenance assignments.
- Move office furniture, machinery, equipment, and other materials as requested.
- Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, documenting conditions that may impact occupant satisfaction and operations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as required.
- Follow all safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping practices, and ensure the safety of work areas.
- Identify potential safety hazards and recommend methods to eliminate or mitigate them.
- Maintain compliance with applicable State, County, and City ordinances, codes, and laws.
- Follow all policies for the safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
- Document work performed, materials used, and other required information in the designated systems, including CMMS, as directed.
- Safely lift and carry materials up to 80 lbs and use ladders up to 30 feet in height.
- Frequently perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving between sites.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing, with team members and building occupants.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively in a team environment.
- Perform other operational tasks typically associated with a Maintenance Mechanic role as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with basic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with basic electrical repairs and maintenance.
- Ability to use and learn Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with 2–3 years of CMMS experience strongly preferred.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues.
- Ability to lift at least 80 lbs and safely use ladders up to 30 feet.
- Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and drive as part of daily duties.
- Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Self-motivated mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid state driver’s license that can be maintained in good standing.
- Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies.
- Comfort with using iPads and iPhones for work tasks, or willingness to learn.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of an applicable technical training program in maintenance, building systems, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working as a maintenance technician or in a similar facilities maintenance role.
- Familiarity with mobile work environments and traveling between multiple sites.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and document work accurately in digital systems.
- Strong attention to safety practices, hazardous materials handling, and regulatory compliance.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple work orders and priorities across different locations.
Why Work Here?
You will join a professional facilities team that values safety, reliability, and continuous improvement, and that invests in your development through ongoing technical and safety training. The contract-to-hire structure offers a clear pathway to long-term employment stability while you gain diverse experience across multiple sites and building systems. You will work with modern tools, a provided vehicle, and digital maintenance platforms, enabling you to focus on quality workmanship rather than sourcing equipment. The role offers a consistent weekday schedule with some flexibility, along with the opportunity to work independently, build a broad technical skill set, and take pride in keeping critical facilities running smoothly for the communities they serve.
Work Environment
This is a mobile field-based role primarily serving locations on Maui, with regular travel to sites in areas such as Lahaina and occasional trips to Lanai and Moloka'i, so candidates must reside on Maui and be comfortable driving between locations. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility required for travel and on-call coverage for after-hours emergencies. Work is performed in and around commercial facilities, including both interior spaces and exterior building areas such as roofs and grounds. The environment is hands-on and physically active, involving frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 80 lbs, and working on ladders up to 30 feet. A company van, tools, uniforms, and mobile devices such as iPads and iPhones are provided to support daily tasks and digital documentation through CMMS and other systems. Safety standards are a core focus, with strict adherence to procedures for hazardous materials, housekeeping, and regulatory compliance, and a culture that emphasizes maintaining clean, orderly, and safe work areas.
