Job Summary:
As the Construction Foreman you will ultimately be responsible for leading excavation and underground utility construction crews, coordinating daily field operations, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within scope. You will manage employees, subcontractors, equipment, and materials while maintaining compliance with customer requirements and company safety standards. As the Construction Foreman, your customers are broadband operators, utility providers, project managers, and general contractors, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through leadership, safety, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
• Coordinate daily construction tasks according to project priorities, plans, and schedules
• Lead excavation crews and subcontractors to complete underground utility projects safely, on time, and within budget
• Train, manage, and mentor employees while enforcing safe use of tools, equipment, and procedures
• Schedule materials, subcontractors, rental equipment, and oversee jobsite resources to meet project demands
• Communicate field updates, project status, injuries, and jobsite issues with project managers, general contractors, and leadership
• Operate heavy equipment, inspect equipment daily, and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
Required Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid Driver’s License required
• OSHA 10 certification required
Experience
• Minimum 5 years of underground utility construction experience
• Experience supervising crews, subcontractors, and excavation projects
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings
• Strong knowledge of OSHA guidelines, equipment, and construction procedures
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Strong communication and customer service skills with inspectors, clients, and leadership
• Ability to document work progress, change orders, and daily reports
• Ability to meet deadlines, resolve field issues, and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
• CDL license preferred
• OSHA 30 and trench/excavation competent person training preferred
• Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment operating experience
• Basic computer skills preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing 40 to 90 lbs.
• Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and ascend/descend ladders for extended periods
• Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions and flexible schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed
• Must maintain visual and audible contact with crew members, vehicles, and equipment for safe coordination
• Must be able to safely operate company vehicles and work around heavy equipment and machinery
• Must be able to work while wearing required PPE including safety boots, glasses, hard hats, and other safety gear
