About this job
Job Description
Litigation & Class Actions · 4–6 Years · WA Bar Required (or eligible to waive in)
By year four or five, a talented litigator knows whether they are building a career as an architect or just a bricklayer. If your current platform limits your class action experience to checking citation strings and organizing document databases, this is the opportunity to pivot into active case execution. We are representing a highly ranked national firm with a deeply rooted Pacific Northwest presence that is looking for a 4-to-6-year associate to join its expanding Seattle Class Action Litigation practice.
The WorkThis position sits within a highly active team defending major clients against consumer and wage-and-hour class action claims in both state and federal courts.
- Substantive Strategy: You will move past discrete research assignments to manage case files, shape discovery strategies, and draft high-stakes pleadings and class certification briefs.
- Courtroom Exposure: The group intentionally structures its matters to provide mid-level associates with regular opportunities for oral advocacy, deposition defense, and courtroom appearances rather than keeping them behind the scenes.
- Diverse Class Action Docket: Your workload will span consumer protection defense, product liability claims, and high-exposure statutory employment matters, giving you a comprehensive class action tool kit.
You are a mid-level litigator with 4 to 6 years of sophisticated experience at a regional or national firm, or you are coming off a rigorous federal or state clerkship. You possess sharp academic credentials, meticulous attention to detail, and a clear, persuasive writing style.
- The Funnel Hook: While prior experience in consumer, product liability, or employment class actions is preferred, the firm will absolutely consider sharp general commercial litigators or former judicial clerks who possess a deep interest in class defense. If you understand federal civil procedure, know how to handle complex discovery, and want to specialize in high-stakes class actions, this group provides the mentorship to transition your practice.
This firm offers an uncommon market position: the deep resource pool and premium client base of a 750-plus lawyer national platform, combined with the tight-knit, collaborative culture of a premier regional office. Following a significant recent expansion in the region, the Seattle office is experiencing highly intentional growth, meaning you get the career runway of an expanding practice without the institutional instability of a true startup environment.
Why SeattleThe Pacific Northwest has increasingly become a preferred jurisdiction for sophisticated, high-stakes class action filings due to unique state regulatory frameworks. Practicing class defense in Seattle positions you at the absolute center of modern consumer and workplace law, working alongside major regional corporate leaders and national enterprises.
Compensation and Benefits- Base Salary Range: $250,000 – $305,000 (reflecting a good faith estimate commensurate with your specific class year, qualifications, and depth of litigation experience).
- Bonuses: Eligibility for an active incentive bonus program and/or a firm profit-sharing bonus program based on performance.
- Benefits: A comprehensive, elite-tier package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA); short- and long-term disability protection; a 401(k) retirement savings plan; generous paid time off (PTO) alongside ten paid holidays; and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Your current firm will not know you are looking. This is an invitation for a low-friction, confidential conversation about the firm's billable expectations, partnership track, and market trajectory.
