A leading healthcare organization in Waterbury is seeking a skilled and dedicated Travel Cath Lab Technician to join their cardiac catheterization laboratory on a contract basis. This position is specifically designed for non-local candidates who are seeking temporary assignment work and are willing to relocate. You must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be considered. The role offers the flexibility and variety that travel healthcare professionals desire while maintaining consistency through a structured Monday-to-Friday schedule.
Core Responsibilities
The Travel Cath Lab Technician will be responsible for preparing and maintaining cardiac catheterization equipment and ensuring the sterile field is properly maintained throughout all procedures. You will assist interventional cardiologists and nursing staff during diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization procedures, coronary angiography, and percutaneous coronary interventions.
Your daily responsibilities include positioning patients appropriately, monitoring vital signs and patient comfort, and assisting with medication administration as directed by the clinical team. You will manage and organize catheterization supplies, equipment, and contrast agents to ensure immediate availability during procedures. Documentation of procedure details, equipment used, and patient responses will be accurate and timely.
You will perform equipment calibration and troubleshooting for fluoroscopy systems, hemodynamic monitoring equipment, and angiographic instrumentation. Maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols and sterile technique is essential. You'll also provide support during emergency situations and be prepared to respond quickly to critical patient needs.
Additionally, you will collaborate effectively with cardiologists, nurses, and other clinical staff to ensure seamless procedure execution and exceptional patient care standards.
Must-Have Requirements
Candidates must possess current certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or equivalent credential recognized by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). A minimum of three years of hands-on experience working in a cardiac catheterization laboratory is required.
You must hold a valid driver's license and be willing to relocate to Waterbury for the duration of the contract assignment. Current BLS certification and advanced cardiac life support training are mandatory. CPR certification must be maintained throughout employment.
Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology is essential. Proficiency with fluoroscopic imaging, hemodynamic monitoring systems, and interventional cardiology equipment is required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for effective collaboration with the medical team and patient interaction.
You must be able to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, maintaining an eight-hour daily schedule for a forty-hour work week. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to fifty pounds, and perform detailed technical tasks is required. The ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately in emergency situations is critical.
