Senior Orthopedic Technician

Location: Houston, TX

Pay Rate: Starting at $23.00/hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Senior Orthopedic Technician to support a leading healthcare system in Houston, TX. This role is ideal for an experienced cast technician who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Apply and remove casts, splints, traction, and orthopedic devices (fiberglass, plaster, and custom orthotics) per physician orders
  • Assist physicians with fracture reductions and other orthopedic procedures
  • Accurately measure and fit patients for custom and off-the-shelf braces
  • Educate patients and families on cast care, splint care, wound care, and post-procedure instructions
  • Maintain and sterilize equipment and instruments in accordance with safety and infection control standards
  • Monitor and manage casting room inventory, supplies, and equipment
  • Document patient care, procedures, and charges accurately in the medical record system
  • Assist with insurance authorizations and DME-related documentation when required
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care
  • Support radiology/imaging as needed by assisting with patient transport and workflow

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Orthopedic Technician
  • At least 1 year of hands-on casting and bracing experience (fiberglass and plaster)
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and orthopedic procedures
  • Experience with DME, insurance authorizations, and medical documentation preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and satisfaction
