About the Role:
The PRN Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients across various healthcare settings on an as-needed basis. This position requires the ability to assess, treat, and manage patients with respiratory disorders, ensuring optimal lung function and overall respiratory health. The RRT will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as the PRN role involves responding to fluctuating patient volumes and varying clinical demands. Ultimately, the RRT contributes to improving patient outcomes by providing expert respiratory therapy interventions and education.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
- Valid state licensure to practice respiratory therapy in the United States.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of respiratory therapy equipment and clinical procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in acute care, critical care, or emergency department settings.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Strong communication and patient education skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Perform respiratory assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen delivery, aerosolized medications, and mechanical ventilation management.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as necessary in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations requiring respiratory intervention.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all respiratory care provided.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques and disease management.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory standards related to respiratory therapy.
Skills:
The required skills enable the RRT to perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and deliver effective treatments that improve patient breathing and oxygenation. Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment and clinical protocols ensures safe and efficient care delivery.
