Core Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive quality assurance and safety checks on radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators and treatment planning systems
  • Conduct detailed dose calculations and treatment plan verification to ensure accuracy and patient safety
  • Participate in commissioning and acceptance testing of new radiation therapy equipment
  • Maintain meticulous calibration records and documentation for all physics-related equipment
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists and therapists to optimize treatment protocols and clinical outcomes
  • Perform routine physics measurements including output factors, depth dose curves, and field uniformity assessments
  • Conduct patient-specific quality assurance for complex treatment plans, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and stereotactic procedures
  • Participate in radiation safety committee meetings and contribute to institutional safety initiatives
  • Assist with staff training on physics-related topics and best practices
  • Maintain detailed records and prepare reports for regulatory compliance and institutional requirements

Must-Have Requirements
  • Current American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics
  • Master's degree in Medical Physics, Physics, or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in medical physics
  • Valid professional license as required by state regulations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of radiation therapy physics, radiation safety, and quality assurance protocols
  • Proficiency with treatment planning systems and physics software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Non-local residency requirement: must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
  • Flexibility for potential schedule adjustments based on departmental needs
  • Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
