Core Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive quality assurance and safety checks on radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators and treatment planning systems
- Conduct detailed dose calculations and treatment plan verification to ensure accuracy and patient safety
- Participate in commissioning and acceptance testing of new radiation therapy equipment
- Maintain meticulous calibration records and documentation for all physics-related equipment
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists and therapists to optimize treatment protocols and clinical outcomes
- Perform routine physics measurements including output factors, depth dose curves, and field uniformity assessments
- Conduct patient-specific quality assurance for complex treatment plans, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and stereotactic procedures
- Participate in radiation safety committee meetings and contribute to institutional safety initiatives
- Assist with staff training on physics-related topics and best practices
- Maintain detailed records and prepare reports for regulatory compliance and institutional requirements
Must-Have Requirements
- Current American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics
- Master's degree in Medical Physics, Physics, or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in medical physics
- Valid professional license as required by state regulations
- Comprehensive knowledge of radiation therapy physics, radiation safety, and quality assurance protocols
- Proficiency with treatment planning systems and physics software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Non-local residency requirement: must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
- Flexibility for potential schedule adjustments based on departmental needs
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
