Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate:$33.36 - $43.36 / hour
SummaryGenetic counselors are professionals who have specialized education in genetics and counseling to provide personalized help patients may need as they learn about their cancer diagnosis and make decisions about their cancer risk, surveillance and possible treatment options. Additionally, genetic counselors' advanced training in counseling helps provide the emotional support patients need as complex genetic information is translated into sometimes-difficult healthcare decisions.
RequirementsEducation: A Master's degree from a program accredited by the American Board of Genetic Counseling required.
Experience: A minimum of three years of directly related experience preferred.
Certification:Board certification as a genetic counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) is required for Florida GC license holders. TGC license holders must be in pursuit of certification.
License: Florida Genetic Counselor (GC) license or Temporary Genetic Counselor (TGC) license.
Other: General computer skills and ability to effectively multi-task responsibilities.
