Backstock Associate - Once Upon a Child Baybrook

About the Role

At Once Upon A Child, our Backstock Associates are the backbone of our store's operation. Unlike traditional retail, we don't receive shipments — we purchase gently used children's clothing, shoes, and gear directly from customers every single day. That means our inventory is always changing, and our backstock team plays a critical role in keeping everything organized, accessible, and floor-ready year-round.

Key Responsibilities

• Inventory Intake & Sorting: Process newly purchased items daily, sorting by size and season (yes, all seasons — all year long!) so merchandise can be efficiently stored and retrieved.
• Backroom Organization: Maintain a clean, logical, and highly organized backroom where every item has a place. Our system only works when the back works.
• Floor Replenishment: Work closely with the sales floor team to ensure shelves and racks stay full and shoppable — especially on busy weekends when traffic is highest.
• Seasonal Management: Rotate and manage multi-season inventory storage so the right items are accessible at the right time, even when we're holding product from multiple seasons simultaneously.
• Safety & Cleanliness: Keep the backroom hazard-free, organized, and easy to navigate for the whole team.

What We're Looking For

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail — our inventory never stops coming in
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and move at a steady pace
• A team player who takes pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes
• Weekend availability is a must
• Previous retail or resale experience is a plus, but we're happy to train the right person
